DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a postdoctoral researcher in the framework of the VKR project ”Single-molecule photothermal spectroscopy with nanostrings”. The postdoc will focus on nanomechanical photothermal IR spectroscopy for monitoring of bacterial infections in Cystic Fibrosis patients.
For patients with the genetic disease Cystic Fibrosis, one of the major concerns is lung infection by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which has recently been reported to be detectable in the patient’s breath using hydrogen cyanide as biomarker. In this project, the hydrogen cyanide is sampled and detected with an IR spectrometer based on a novel nanomechanical sensor.
Qualifications The ideal candidate holds a PhD in physics, analytical chemistry or engineering. A strong background in micro & nanoelectromechanical sensor technology, analytical instrumentation, and technology development & implementation is an advantage. Furthermore a strong interest in chemical analysis, clinical testing, and microfabrication is required.
