Engineering Director
Does leading others in cost and quality improvement processes appeal to you? Do you have the technical and managerial skills to ensure fast execution of product changes and quality issues through proactive leadership and performance management? Then you could be the Engineering Director we are looking for within Danfoss Automatic Controls. You will lead a team of 12 employees in our Sustaining Engineering Team for Commercial Solenoid Valves and Industrial Refrigeration, reporting to the Head of R&D and Engineering in Denmark. The position is located in Kolding – with 10-20 travelling days per year.
Managing and coordinating quality and cost improvement
Your overall mission is to drive engineering changes, ensuring continuous cost and quality improvements in the product portfolio. Balancing available resources and decided activities, you will implement fast execution of product changes and secure change control with high focus on adding value to our customers. Furthermore, you will be responsible for building and maintaining competencies and product knowledge according to product road maps. Your key tasks will include:
- Driving engineering changes related to quality and cost improvements and customer requests
- Managing root cause analysis and structure problem solving of quality issues
- Addressing issues arising from design or bill of material mistakes, which create issues in manufacturing
- Coordination of sustaining engineering activities with engineering teams in Wuqing, China and Chennai, India
- Managing temporary deviations for management approvals
Technical and managerial experience from a cross-functional context
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and solid working experience in product engineering, including managerial responsibility from hire to fire. You possess in-depth practical experience in development, verification and validation of mechanical control products and hold a track record in utilising quality tools as FMEA or design for Six Sigma. You are familiar with off-shoring of engineering activities and working with cross-functional teams in multiple locations. Proficiency in English is required due to the international coordinative character of the job.
